Bananas, herbs may help prevent HIV transmission

(NaturalNews) A study published in the March 19, 2010, situation of The Journal of Biological Chemistry observed that banana lectins, the proteins that bind to sugars, also bind to HIV-infected cells and avoid their replication and transmission. And a number of other studies have discovered comparable anti-HIV effects from different herbs and plants like the hyssop herb, pine cone seed extracts, “pokeweed” extracts, Reishi mushrooms and even cannabis (marijuana).

Researchers from the University of Michigan (UM) identified in a laboratory study that banana lectins bind to HIV-infected cells and basically envelop them so that they can’t reproduce. So scientists are now working on a very-concentrated extract of these lectins known as “Ban Tec” that they say could 1 day be widely used to avoid HIV transmission.

Pine cone seeds include a high lignan extract that has been shown not only to inhibit HIV transmission, but also reverse the harm caused to the physique by HIV-infected white blood cells. The “pokeweed” plant and at least three other North American prairie plants have shown HIV-preventive effects as effectively. And plant sterols in general seem to safeguard wholesome cells from becoming invaded by HIV. These and other details came from a latest report by FOX News.

For treating HIV-related signs and symptoms like “wasting syndrome” and neuropathy, cannabis, also known as marijuana, has verified itself to be highly efficient. Cannabis spurs appetite in those with “wasting syndrome”, helping them to eat more and gain weight, and it also reduces or totally eliminates the severe pain related with neuropathy.

And the Reishi mushroom, which is identified for its powerful immune-boosting activity, is also a favorite amongst Chinese herbalists treating HIV simply because it can support improve general condition and even potentially help reverse the disease altogether.

Why most natural disasters aren’t natural at all

(NaturalNews) From the point of view of a lot of humans, the term “natural disaster” is a handy scapegoat due to the fact it enable a person (or a whole nation) to blame nature for their own poor planning. Wherever we come across so-referred to as “natural disasters” about the world (such as Brazil at the second), we also typically locate a big group of individuals who have cut down the forests that buffer rainfall, paved over the grasslands that allow rain to soak into the soil, and constructed their homes right in the middle of gullies and natural drainage channels. When the floods come, they appear to the sky and curse Mother Nature, shouting, “We got hit by a natural disaster!”

Of course, in some circumstances it genuinely is a natural disaster. When a volcano blows and causes widespread destruction beyond what any person could have reasonably foreseen — such as Mt St Helens in the 1980’s — that’s a legitimate natural disaster. When an under-the-ocean earthquake causes a fifty-foot tsunami that wipes out a beach town, that’s a legitimate natural disaster, too. When a significant meteorite slams into the planet with the force of millions of atomic bombs, laying waste to an whole era of exclusive lifeforms (the dinosaurs, for instance), that’s a natural disaster.

But acquiring wiped out by a flood since you built your property appropriate in the flood path of a local river is not a natural disaster. That’s a man-made disaster. Or, more accurately, it’s just poor planning on the element of quick-sighted humans. And when it comes to disasters, there’s plenty of quick-sightedness to go about these days.

Poor planning
When I lived in Ecuador, I witnessed all sorts of homes becoming built correct in the drainage pathways and low-lying flood zones of rivers with a identified history of flooding. Even back in the United States, the federal government in fact encourages individuals to construct homes in flood zones and hurricane zones by providing “federal flood insurance” which is for the most component a way for the taxpayers to subsidize the danger of those who live in houses that in no way ought to have been built in these places in the very first place.

The entire fiasco of rebuilding the low-lying regions of New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina is a perfect instance of mankind just begging to be hit with yet another “natural disaster.” It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that some time in the next 50 years, a category five hurricane is going to strike New Orleans yet again and reclaim the extremely exact same regions that technically belong beneath water as component of the Gulf of Mexico. (This is in no way meant to disparage the men and women of New Orleans, by the way, who are some of the most joyful and creative people you’ll ever meet. Fantastic folks. Sad geologic scenario, nonetheless. You can’t fight geology for extended…)

Forest fires should by no means be a surprise
The most striking example of so-named “natural disasters” is when men and women construct their homes in a giant forest, surrounded by trees, and then they appear surprised when these trees catch on fire and burn their houses to the ground. Did they really believe that trees by no means burn? Do folks honestly purchase multi-million dollar homes in California and assume that their homes will somehow be magically immune to the forest fires that inevitably sweep by way of all forests?

I do not imply to make light of the loss of property and the human suffering that occurs throughout such events, but wouldn’t all that loss have been prevented if they believed much more cautiously about the situation in the very first location?

Even the news gets it wrong. They’ll report issues like, “The fire induced over $ 200 million in property damage…” Nicely, not precisely. The forest fire burned exactly where it has usually burned, each couple of decades, for possibly tens of thousands of years. Fires are, in truth, critical for the wholesome functioning of forest ecosystems. And till humans started developing houses in forest fire zones, those fires never caused any so-called “property harm.” So why is the fire to blame for destroying properties? Since individuals constructed their homes proper exactly where the fires burn each few decades!

As soon as you comprehend that, you can’t really blame the fire for destroying the homes. It’s not the fault of the fire. Folks shouldn’t develop properties in forest fire zones.

See, when I look at a forest as a prospective home internet site, the really 1st issue that comes to my mind is, “Sooner or later, these trees are going to burn.” It’s a natural cycle triggered by lightning combined with a dry season that follows a wet growing season that produces lots of underbrush “fuel.” All it requires is 1 lightning strike to light it up, and from there the laws of chemistry take over.

When poor planning collides with natural repeating cycles
Most “natural” disasters are truly triggered by poor human planning. Normally speaking, individuals do not have a really extended-term view of items. They do not take into account that the small creek running behind their new property could quite simply wind up meandering through their living room after record rainfall. The cattle rancher who buys 500 acres of forest and then clear-cuts the trees to make room for cattle grazing (Brazil, any person?) doesn’t generally consider the fact that they have now eliminated the rainfall / water buffer zone that protected their lands from floods and erosion.

Even professional city engineers frequently aren’t really vibrant about all this: They’ll style cities with huge locations of pavement and roads, all even though failing to appropriately think about the reality that what utilised to be dirt which once absorbed water is now concrete that channels water someplace else. It doesn’t take significantly rain for a city of pavement to grow to be a flash flood nightmare.

Quit blaming nature for poor human planning
It is inappropriate for individuals to use the term “natural disaster” to refer to poor planning on the part of humans. Instead of blaming themselves for building their homes proper in the middle of a flash flood zone, too a lot of individuals blame nature (or God). “Why does God punish us by destroying our house?” they cry. Perhaps God was truly sending them an essential message: “Don’t build your home in a flood zone.”

Not all floods are the fault of the folks affected by them, of course. There are massive floods occurring right now in Brisbane, Australia. I haven’t studied the underlying cause of these floods, but they appear entirely out of character for the region there. In that case, it indicates the victims of the floods in Brisbane are suffering via no fault of their personal but rather as a result of some destructive global influences on the planet’s climate systems.

Nonetheless, now that Brisbane has observed the prospective for flooding, watch in amazement over the subsequent twelve months as several Australians rebuild homes appropriate back in the very same precise areas devastated by this flood. It is not a characteristic of excellent planning. (And it’s not distinctive to Australians, of course. This happens everywhere in the world, it seems, exactly where men and women reside.)

What “natural disasters” are coming subsequent due to poor human planning?
Here are some of the “natural disasters” I predict will strike our world in the close to future. They’ll be blamed on nature, but the real trigger is discovered in human behavior:

• It won’t be too extended before our food crops endure a genetic pollution disaster due to the widespread use of GMOs. Amid global starvation, the GMO scientists will exclaim, “There’s no way we could have foreseen this!” Oh yeah? We warned ya!

• The huge life extinction event occurring appropriate now on our planet will ultimately be traced largely to the mass chemical contamination of the globe with pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, food additives and synthetic chemicals in client products. Already, the bird and fish die-offs are being named “natural” by conventional scientists who don’t see what’s truly happening.

• The next wonderful dust bowl will strike inside twenty years as abused, over-farmed soils continue to erode, transforming several food-producing regions of the globe into food deserts (deserts as in sand, not desserts as in cherry pie). Instead of blaming destructive farming practices, scientists will blame the weather.

• The global use of fossil water — especially in India — will soon meet a geologic limit, causing widespread drought and desertification. This, too, will be blamed on a “natural” disaster (dry spells).

• The enormous loss of food pollinators will accelerate, ultimately leading to emergency shortages of pollinators and a detrimental impact on the global food supply. Instead of blaming this on the most probably culprits (GMOs and pesticides), conventional scientists will try to blame viruses or weather events.

… and this list goes on… and on… whilst humans continue to blame nature instead of seeking at the actual source of these troubles: Ignorant “scientific” progress and boundless human expansion!

Possibly instead of blaming floods, fires and crop failures on Mother Nature (or God), human beings ought to take responsibility for the influence of their personal actions, each individually and collectively.

How to stop numerous so-called natural disasters
So how can we avoid these “natural disasters” on a individual level? It’s easier than you assume:

Be mindful of the globe about you.

Be conscious of your impact on the globe about you and the fact that you are connected with the planet about you. Every thing we do to globe about us, regardless of whether destructive or creative, will eventually be reflected in that world.

And particularly be wary of contaminating the planet, destroying natural habitat or attempting to alter the natural cycles of nature. The greatest way to prevent natural disasters is to understand to reside in greater harmony with the nature world, respecting its natural cycles of “destruction” which are really essential to life on Earth.

As one much more swift example, think about big hydroelectric dams and the concern of flooding. Arrogant scientists and engineers promised that such dams would finish floods downstream, create clean power and lead to a healthier planet. They were incorrect: By stopping the floods, dams straight interfere with the normal life cycle of virtually all the animals that reside downstream. And by halting flooding, they deny the croplands on the banks of the rivers the nutritional replenishment they will need to grow healthful, mineral-wealthy crops.

Much the exact same is accurate with forest fires. Humans desperately and ignorantly try to extinguish such fires, thereby preserving the forest floor “fuel” that one day ignites into a a lot stronger blaze that, instead of invigorating the forest, kills it dead. Just appear at the history of Yellowstone National Park. It was all the decades of extinguishing fires there that led to the devastating, tree-killing fire of 1988.

Human arrogance at function yet again, thinking that each and every time a fire or flood happens, it is a “natural disaster” that ought to be halted through human intervention.

The upshot is that a lot of “natural disasters” are really only disasters from the point of view of individuals who do not respect nature in the first place.

Periorbital Cellulitis Symptoms | Treatments | Causes

Periorbital cellulitis is known as an infection that is located around the eye and has inflammation on the eyelid. It has similar symptoms to some other infections but can get worse if it’s not treated properly.

It is said to be caused by a few different things, some say wearing makeup on while you are sleeping can also cause periorbital cellulitis to occur. Other suspect spider and insect bites to be a contributing cause for this condition. Some of the causes for periorbital cellulitis are because of the bacteria staphylococcus and streptococcus.

Some signs of periorbital cellulitis are:

  • Swelling of the skin
  • Redness in or around the infected area
  • Pain and discharge
  • Shut eye
  • Fever
  • Redness and swelling of the eyelid

Some children will start out with pink eye before they get periorbital cellulitis. If redness starts around the outer soft tissue of the eye, you will want to consult a doctor for a checkup and for antibiotics. Also one of the signs of this infection is dry cracking skin. Treatment for periorbital cellulitis is in the form of antibiotics like clindamycin, cephalexin and dicloxacillin. There are also antibiotic eye drops to help with the infection and to help keep the eye moisturized for the healing process.

At times people have been known to mix up the name of periorbital cellulitis with the name of orbital cellulitis. Orbital cellulitis is a serious emergency that requires antibiotics intravenously. You will know if you have the orbital over the periorbital cellulitis because the orbital will have the symptoms of:

  • Pain when the eye moves
  • A sudden loss in vision
  • Bulging of the eye or eyes that are infected
  • Limited eye movement

If these symptoms are included then it would point in the direction of the diagnosis being orbital cellulitis instead of periorbital cellulitis.  Always make sure to get the help that you need for the care and correct diagnosis of any infection or illness that you or your child may have. Catching things early can help with the spread of infection and also makes for a faster safer recovery.

Celiac Disease Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

If you want information on celiac disease then look no further, celiac disease is a digestive disease that interferes with the absorbing of nutrients from food through the small intestine. Gluten is a problem for people with celiac disease because it makes people with this disease lose their Villi by their immune system damaging it. This may cause an individual to become malnourished making the amounts of food eaten not matter because the body will not be able to absorb the nutrients in the food.

How do you get celiac disease?

This syndrome is both a problem with absorbing nutrients and the immune system of the individual with the disease. Studies have shown that people get celiac disease from genetics, it can become active after different events in a person’s life and some reasons for the start of the disease are:

  • After a major surgery some people may start to show signs
  • While pregnant or after child birth
  • In some cases, severe emotional stress can get the disease activated
  • Some viral infections can also give celiac disease a kick start

There are varying symptoms depending on the case of an individual with the disorder but there are some signs that will give you an idea that its celiac disease, these signs are:

  • Vomiting in any consistency
  • Weight loss from the lack of nutrients getting to your body
  • A stool light or pale in color that may consist of fatty substances
  • Most individuals will notice constipation as well with other symptoms
  • Pain in the mid section or abdominal area with bloating

A lot can come from celiac disease as far as symptoms or side effects go. In children, the effects can damage other growing parts of the body because of the lack of fuel feeding the child properly.  Other people with this disease may not show any symptoms at all, it just depends on the person. Some adults may not have digestion problems at all but may have these symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Bone and joint pain
  • Seizures
  • Missed menstrual periods
  • Sores inside of the mouth area

Von Willebrand’s Disease – Treatments | Symptoms | Causes

The Von Willebrand’s disease or VWD is a blood disorder where the blood has a hard time clotting and cuts can bleed for a long time. Damage from the bleeding and the effect of it not clotting can affect the heart and other organs or can even cause death. Although death is possible from Von Willebrand’s disease it’s not a common issue. One of the main causes of death are because of a major injury and the body not being able to stop the bleeding.

If you have Von Willebrand’s disease it’s because the protein does not work the way it’s supposed to. This can be because of low amounts of particular proteins in the blood or because of a malfunction in the bloods makeup; the body will kick in to do what it has to do to survive.

When a normal healthy body gets an injury to the point that it causes the body to bleed small cell fragments will clot up to stop the bleeding. When this clotting starts it’s because of the platelets and the way they form together to stop the bleeding. People with Von Willebrand’s disease will not have the proper key factors in the blood to make the platelets stick together.

The Von Willebrand’s disease factor also carries clotting factor number 8 which is also the same protein that’s missing or not working properly with individuals who have been diagnosed with hemophilia. Von Willebrand’s disease is more likely to be present before some other blood disorders and is like a mild version of hemophilia.

There are 3 different types of this disorder and they are:

  • Type 1 – The most common form of Von Willebrand’s disease
  • Type 2 –  Type 2 is divided into 4 different gene mutation 2A, 2B, 2N and 2M
  • Type 3 – This is the most severe case and it’s very rare to have

The chances of a person having Von Willebrand’s disease are about 1 out of every 50 to 1000 people worldwide. One of the things about this blood disorder is that it affects both men and women unlike hemophilia which seem to mainly me in men.

All about Vasculitis – Causes | Symptoms | Treatments

Vasculitis is a disorder that mainly involves the destruction of inflamed blood vessels. The veins and arteries are all affected when vasculitis is present and it is mainly because of the migration of leukocyte and the damage it causes. Vasculitis itself is typically in combination with another health issue already at work within the body as the main symptom or as an underlying one:

  • Vasculitis classified as cutaneous small-vessel affects the kidneys as well as the skin
  • Wegener’s Grannulomatosis is a vasculitis type that affects very large blood cells and concentrates on the kidney, lungs and nose.
  • Buerger’s disease involves vasculitis symptoms in the veins and arteries of the legs (gangrene)
  • Kawasaki disease causes micro-cell vasculitis within the skin of the mouth and eyes as well as the heart.
  • Churg-Strauss syndrome causes vasculitis in the heart, kidneys and legs as well as skin throughout the body.
  • Giant cell, polyarteritis nodosa and takayasu’s arteritis are often classified within the vasculitis family as well.
  • Also, cancer, hepatitis C and various rheumatic diseases are also accompanied by inflamed blood cells in a variety of areas.

Vasculitis Symptoms to Look For

  • Losing weight without effort is a common symptom of many medical conditions but it is often one of the first symptoms to show.
  • Fever is also accompanied with many conditions and it can rise to deadly heights so keep an eye on it if present.
  • Obvious purple and red blotches throughout the skin; deep in color and very easy to notice! Their main cause is because of the bleeding occurring underneath the skin. Purpura spots are large affected areas and petechiae are small affected areas.
  • Medium veins that have swollen large enough to be seen through the skin. It creates a pattern like lace and is also very easy to notice.
  • Muscle pain, joint pain and inflammation of the joints
  • Coughing up blood and nose bleeds for no reason
  • High blood pressure and risk of gangrene
  • Pain in the abdomen, blood in stool and glomerulonephritis in the kidneys

Trichomoniasis – Causes, Signs and Treatments

Trichomoniasis is a somewhat common sexually transmitted disease and it affects both genders but women with trichomoniasis are more common than men. It is caused by a single celled parasite that is spread by genital to genital activities. Signs and symptoms associated with having this STD are often unnoticed if they exist at all but some people have a different experience.

Signs and Symptoms of Trichomoniasis

Trichomoniasis infections in men often go unnoticed because most men don’t experience any irritations or other symptoms while some men have a slight discharge from their genitals, irritated areas within the penis and burning sensation after ejaculating and/or urination. Symptoms for men may end on their own but this does not mean the infection is gone it just means the symptoms are gone.

Women with trichomoniasis have a slightly different set of symptoms to deal with. The most obvious one is the frothy discharge from the vagina that may have a green or yellow tint to it and it has an unpleasant, powerful odor along with it. Discomfort and itching while having sex and after urinating are very common with women as well.

Unusual cases of trichomoniasis infections with women will cause pain in the lower abdomen. Not excruciating pain but enough to get someone’s attention and cause plenty of discomfort. Also in women, trichomoniasis symptoms will become apparent within 28 days but sometimes as soon as 5 days after being exposed to a carrier. Also, pregnant infected women will be at risk for low birth weight.

Treatments for Trichomoniasis

For both men and women, trichomoniasis is curable and the treatment calls for a single dose of oral medicine prescribed by a medical professional. Those who do not seek treatment will continue to spread trichomoniasis to everyone they have sexual contact with, which is why it is very important to receive the easy treatment for killing this parasite. Pregnant women seeking treatment for trichomoniasis will be all too happy that there is a drug that is safe to take in a single dosage to kill the parasite within affecting the pregnancy.

Syphilis – Symptoms and Treatments

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease that can affect the genitals, anus and oral areas including the lips, mouth and throat of both men and women. In recent times, this particular disease is known for being transmitted more often between men who have sex with other men but it is not limited to that. In the end, no one is safe from this disease unless safe sex practices are upheld.

The symptoms of Syphilis are curious and confusing to even the most experienced medical professional because they often imitate other, more common infections and diseases. This can often lead to misdiagnosis and late treatment which can cause irreversible damage to the health of the one who is infected with Syphilis. Symptoms vary in accordance to what stage the disease is at:

First Stage Syphilis Symptoms and Treatment:

  • One sore, a chancre, is typically the primary sign but you can also have more than one. The sore is unique because it will start only in the exact spot where the disease first entered the body.
  • Treatment at this stage merely requires an oral antibiotic or a similar method but if the infection continues without treatment, you’ll have much more trouble on your hands.

Second Stage Syphilis Symptoms and Treatment:

  • Red and/or brown rough feeling rashes of all sizes, typically on the bottom of feet or palms of the hands.
  • Lesions with a mucous membrane will also begin forming in the infected areas.
  • Other symptoms also include hair and weight loss, aching muscles, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, fever, headaches and a sore throat.
  • Seeking antibiotic treatment for this stage is extremely important because these new symptoms will dissipate over time but this is far from a good thing because that means you’ve reached the final stages.

Final, or Late, Stage Syphilis Symptoms and Treatment:

  • Entering the final stage of Syphilis is almost unavoidable when the infection is left untreated and it can cause irreversible damage to many internal organs including the brain, heart, liver.
  • Symptoms include dementia, oncoming blindness, paralysis, confused muscle movements and numbness.
  • Treatment is still an oral antibiotic but no treatments of Syphilis will repair any damage caused by the disease.

Anytime that an individual’s back is unable to move properly and fully because of a spinal Colum that has slipped, they will be suffering from Spondylolisthesis. The spine is held up with the support of muscles, joints, disks and ligaments that help the spine move in many different ways, anytime there is a problem with the spine a patients will feel the effects of pain and difficulty in moving around.

There are 2 types of Spondylolisthesis one is Retrolisthesis and the other is Anterolisthesis.  Retrolisthesis is when the vertebra body is offset backwards and Anterilisthesis it the upper area of the spine is affected moving forward in comparison to the adjoining bone structure.

You cannot really find any direct symptoms for Spondylolisthesis because the symptoms are so minute and general that people do not even know that they have the condition the majority of the time because its normal back pain or pain in the legs that can be taken as other issues like over working or standing to long.

There are many causes for Spondylolisthesis but here are a few to give you an idea of some reasons for this condition:

  • Some people may be born with this condition called congenital Spondylolisthesis
  • Anything that is done that makes a person active makes them a prime candidate for this issue
  • As a person ages the chances of Spondylolisthesis grow
  • There is also a condition where new bone tissue starts to grow, making the pars stretch, causing this symptom occur
  • Getting hurt playing sports
  • Working or stretching in a way you’re not used to

These are just a few ways that this condition can happen and as you age, the chances increase because of natural and unnatural bone deterioration processes that human bodies go through.  Always ask a doctor if you have any issues or concerns with any issues that you may be having.

Scabies Symptoms | Signs | Treatments

Scabies is an infection brought on by a skin parasite called the human itch mite. Microscopic mites will burrow into the top layer of the skin and basically set up a home for itself. It then continues to lay as many eggs as possible which will cause intense symptoms that no one can ignore. A scabies infection is highly contagious to both men and women.

Scabies Symptoms

Symptoms associated with scabies infections are quite obvious and they can start showing anywhere from 1 day to 6 weeks after coming in contact with it. However, the scabies parasites eventually cause the symptoms to begin and you will definitely notice them. The following symptoms can affect parts all over the body or in specific areas including the armpits, wrists, elbows, penis, waist, the skin between the fingers and the nipples.

  • Severe itching
  • A pimple-like rash that includes small blisters and scales.
  • Scratching it will only cause more sores and those new sores can become infected with dangerous and harmful bacteria.
  • Female scabies mites will tunnel through the upper layer of your skin causing tunnels to be easily seen externally. They are often raised when compared to the skin and are shaped crookedly with a gray, white or skin color to them. Tunnels are more commonly found in folds of skin and in between fingers.
  • Rashes on the face and head area are typically only associated with small children and babies as well as rashes on the bottom of the feet and palms of the hands.

Treatment for Scabies

Scabies can be easily treated with a scabicide that is put on infected areas, left for a certain amount of time and then washed off. Do not trust any over the counter medicines, topical creams, pills or treatments for scabies as there are currently none that are approved for such a use. Repeating an infection is quite easy when you don’t complete your treatment or you associate with an infected person. Treating for scabies more than once is very common and most of the time recommended when you continue to feel itchy after your first treatment.

Retinitis Pigmentosa – Symptoms | Treatments | Causes

Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited eye condition that is passed down by genetics and is a collection of conditions that lead to blindness. Some of the symptoms of retinitis pigmentosa are:

  • Night blindness will occur first making it harder to see in low lighted areas and conditions
  • Tunnel vision after time will come after the effects of the night blindness
  • Total blindness is not a guaranteed thing but the decrease of vision is.

Treatments are vitamin A even though there is no cure for this condition at this time. Vitamin A palmitate has been proven to delay the blindness by close to 10 years. Many believe that future treatments will be that of retinal transplants, stem cells, and even nutrition supplements.

Many people with retinitis pigmentosa keep some of their vision their whole life but will become legally blind when they reach their 50s. The fact of the matter is that each case can be different from patient to patient. In some early cases, it can cause children to become blind after just a few years. With this being known there are really no exact predictions on how long this condition will take to destroy your eyes.

The main problem with retinitis pigmentosa is that it progresses over time and some may progress faster than others. This type of retinal disorder affects the rods and cones in the eyes and will lead to serious vision loss that may deem you legal blind. The rods are more related to the vision that helps you see at night, these rods are the ones that are the greatest effected when it comes to the stages of this disease.

There are different variations of this condition and the name retinitis pigmentosa covers a wide verity of the variation of disorders passed down genetically that effect the eye sight. When the condition of retinitis pigmentosa is diagnosed it will depend on the documented progressive loss in the photoreceptor cell function of the electroretinography. Diagnosis can also be made by a vision field test performed by a professional that knows how to test for this condition of retinitis pigmentosa.

Primary Vesicoureteral Reflux Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Primary vesicoureteral reflux, or VUR, is a condition where the ureterovesical junction is deformed. The junction is technically the valve from the ureters, which are the tubes that travel from the kidneys all the way to the bladder. Primary vesicoureteral reflux is quite common, up to 50% of children who have repeated urinary tract infections end up testing positive for VUR.

The deformity in the ureterovesical junction will cause urine to flow backwards and back into the kidneys. This will cause repeated urinary tract infections in the child and will soon be noticed by a medical professional who is treating the UTIs. Diagnosing this condition is not only done upon the presence of multiple UTIs but also through a simple, uncomfortable procedure.

Primary vesicoureteral reflux is primarily found using an ultrasound machine; the same type of machine used to see inside the womb of a pregnant woman. First, the child will have to have a catheter put in so that their doctor will be able to painlessly inject a dye that can be seen on the ultrasound machine.

This will allow the doctor to watch the dye and see if the urine is being refluxed backwards and into the kidneys. If the dye begins to flux back and forth throughout the ureters, the diagnosis of primary vesicoureteral reflux is quite final.

Fortunately, only on the rare occasion are primary vesicoureteral reflux conditions considered extreme and with repeated oral doses of the appropriate antibiotic, the primary vesicoureteral reflux should be able to clear up without any additional treatment. Taking an antibiotic is very important for a child suffering from primary vesicoureteral reflux because it helps to keep the urine and body as sterile as possible so that there is very little risk for kidney infections.

A kidney infection is the main concern in moderate and severe cases but antibiotic treatment is still important for mild cases. Additionally, primary vesicoureteral reflux is found to be genetically connected to the majority of children who have it so get all children tested if one turns up positive and double check your family history.

Plagiocephaly Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Plagiocephaly is a condition that occurs within a child typically under the age of 18 months. It is basically explained as a misshapen, flat sided or diamond shaped skull. There are several causes but restriction within the uterus before being born is the main reason for plagiocephaly being present but it can occur after birth as well.

Plagiocephaly can also be present within an infant under 5 months of age that stays in one position for long periods at a time which causes misshapen and flattened skull structure. Babies under 5 months of age with plagiocephaly can have it corrected simply by changing the position of the child more often.

Those who are older but less than 18 months of age will be given a special device resembling a helmet that will help to correct and accurately shape the head as it should be. The only reason for the rise in plagiocephaly cases is because of the awareness spread about SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome, which required the parent to keep the child on their back to avoid succumbing to SIDS.

The only problem with this was that is caused somewhat of a panic, especially with new parents, and they ended up overdoing it by keeping the child on their back all the time instead of when they slept (which is the direction for avoiding SIDS as well as no toys, pillows or crowding blankets within the infant sleeping area just dress the baby warmly instead).

Fortunately, only a small percentage of studies have shown that plagiocephaly, whether corrected or not, affects the educational abilities of a child negatively. Therefore, just because a child had plagiocephaly does not mean they will suffer in school or learning.

It is very important to correct a misshapen skull for obvious reasons and the treatments are so simple it would be wrong not to take part in it. Remember, although it is not proven in fact at the moment, some experts believe that plagiocephaly does affect the mental functions of the child which should be enough to drive anyone straight to a specialist.

Osteosarcoma, in simple terms, is historically the most common form of bone cancer that anyone can have. Osteosarcoma itself is a cancerous neoplasm that arises from cell born of mesenchymal beginnings which produces a malignant osteoid that proceeds to spread cancer throughout the bones.

Causes of Osteosarcoma

The actual causes of osteosarcoma are just as unknown as the ways to cure cancer. There are technically no known causes of osteosarcoma but there are related but non-relevant activities. Recently, scientists have been researching on how to isolate certain genetic factors within a person’s DNA that will tell whether this person has a bigger chance of osteosarcoma than another person.

Currently, all such studies are still without answer but hopefully, with time, solutions will be found and the world will be a happier place. For now, relieving the symptoms caused by osteosarcoma is of great importance as well because if someone is going through it, they need to be as comfortable as possible as well as well taken care of.

Diagnosis of Osteosarcoma

Diagnosing osteosarcoma is a completely different subject when compared to the diagnosing of a rash or case of flu because the sign to be seen is deep within the body on the bone itself. Pain will bring the person into a physician’s office but it won’t get a diagnosis of osteosarcoma and that is specifically because all of the symptoms related to osteosarcoma are general and often mistaken for muscle problems or minor cysts that require no medical attention. X-ray is the most common way to find it in the end.

Symptoms of Osteosarcoma

  • Pain that is much worse at night than at day and is concentrated in one or specific areas should raise the attention of anyone enough to go to their medical professional.
  • Bone tumors are very common, although often non-cancerous (benign) but they can cause the tissue surrounding the bone to swell and become engrossed with pain and tenderness.
  • Weakened bones that could result in fracture or other type of injury

Osteosarcoma Treatment

As with most other cancers, osteosarcoma is commonly treated with chemotherapy that is followed by surgery to remove the bone tumors.

Osteochondrosis Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

When it comes to osteochondrosis you can consider it to be an orthopedic disease in the joint that can be found in children and fast growing animals. Other than children, osteochondrosis, when found, is found more in horses, pigs and dogs than any other animals. Turkeys and calves have also been believed to have this condition especially when they grow faster than normal or faster than the body can keep up with.

On average, in humans, more people seem to show signs of this disease when they reach 30 years of age and older. Although humans over 30 are more susceptible to osteochondrosis it is not limited to that age group, in fact some individuals can get the disease before they turn 20 years old. Men and women both are susceptible to the symptoms of osteochondrosis, men just seem to have more pain with the symptoms and women seem to be more likely to catch osteochondrosis than men.

The word osteochondrosis is used to describe different types of lesions that range from a large family of orthopedic diseases that interrupt the blood supply to the bones.  The cause of this symptom is unknown but many studies have connected it to growing at a fast speed.

Some other studies seem to point towards heredity and dietary imbalances as a contributing factor as well. When it comes to humans you can classify osteochondrosis into 3 groups:

  • Spinal – This is a disease in the spinal area which causes a curve or hunch in the back
  • Non-articular – Is in the field of some other diseases such as Sever’s disease in the heels and other diseases that are in the hands and other parts of the body
  • Articular – Avascular necrosis is a deformity of the hip from dead bone collapsing and causing the deformity. A limp is often the result accompanied by pain.

Any disease that stops the ability of bones to regenerate and grow is a type of osteochondrosis. There are many places and treatment that pop up all of the time to make sure to have your facts when looking into treatment for your osteochondrosis.

Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) – Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) is not an STD but it is an infection within the urethra that causes swelling, or inflammation. Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) means that the inflammation of the urethra is not caused or related to gonorrhea. However, this condition often makes an appearance when another health issue is present.

Common Causes for Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU)

Parasites, herpes (HSV), adenovirus and Chlamydia based infections have all been linked to causing Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) but a person can also have it from an injury from a cystoscope, catheter and from a reaction to chemicals including spermicides and various antiseptics. Chlamydia is currently the most common cause of Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU).

Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) Symptoms

  • Burning and pain in the general area of the urethra especially while urinating
  • Discharge that is cloudy, milky and/or white
  • Men suffer from severe itching, tenderness and their discharge causes stains in the undergarments
  • Women are more apt to abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding not associated with their menstrual cycle.
  • Symptoms are not always present when infected

Diagnosis of Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) is typically done by viewing a swabbing of the discharge under a microscope by a trained professional. The second part of the diagnosis is where a medical professional works with the specimen even further to figure out if it is gonococcal or Nongonococcal.

Gonococcal Urethritis is an inflamed urethra that is directly related to a gonorrhea infection within the body whereas Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) is specifically found to be unrelated to gonorrhea most likely because it doesn’t exist within the infected person to begin with.

Treatment for Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU)

Antibiotics taken orally are the typical treatment for Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU). Doxycycline is the drug most often prescribed because it treats a broad spectrum of the known causes for the condition. It is very important to have yourself treated if you are infected as well as those who you have had sexual contact with while infected.

If left untreated, Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) can lead to epididymitis which is when the epididymis, a tiny area behind the testicles responsible for storing mature sperm, is severely inflamed. Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU)can also lead to infertility with both male and females.

Neuroblastoma Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Neuroblastoma can be caused by many things because it’s not totally known and understood. It has been studied and followed, showing that many cases are genetic or passed down from generations. Many ongoing investigations are leaning towards certain chemicals also being a factor in Neuroblastoma found in some children.

A lot of people who get neuroblastoma seem to be children and infants. There is a yearly amount of over 600 new found cases every year and over 55 percent of neuroblastoma cases are in children under 2 years of age. Sometimes the neuroblastoma can form in nerve tissue in the abdomen, neck, pelvis and chest.

Spontaneous regression is common in neuroblastoma to go from an undifferentiated state to a benign state. It’s also classified into 3 different categories of risk stages; the categories are low, intermediate and high risk.

Some symptoms of this disease are listed below but are not limited to these alone:

  • Pail or discolored skin
  • A tumor in some spots can cause bruising
  • Constipation can be another sign
  • If the stomach is swollen it could be from a tumor in the abdomen
  • Pain in the legs and hips can be from bone lesions
  • If a tumor is pressing on the spinal cord weakness may appear as a symptom because of this

There are different stages for this disease and some treatments are designed for different stages of it. The different stages are listed like so:

  • Stage L1
  • Stage L2
  • Stage M
  • Stage MS

Many low risk patients with this disease can be cured with surgery and no chemicals, while some need little attention in order to recover from the effects. The intermediate risk patients of neuroblastoma can get treatment with chemicals used for treating the illness and with surgery. Many medicines can help with this, it all depends on the stage of the disease and the doctors preferred method of treatment. Most people who get treatment early for neuroblastoma have a great success rate of curing the sickness but most cases categorized as a high risk stage are lowered.

Myelitis Transverse Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Myelitis transverse is a neurological condition involving an inflaming process of the spinal cord. It is known to cause axonal demyelination which is basically any type of neurological disease or disorder that causes the neurons to become damaged. When someone is suffering from specifically myelitis transverse, the transverse part stands for the fact that the spine is seeing inflammation along the thick parts of the spine.

Myelitis transverse has a few known causes including spontaneous appearance (no cause or unknown cause), after a vaccination of some type or a serious infection. Also, those who suffer from multiple sclerosis are at a slightly bigger risk for developing myelitis transverse. If someone has acute myelitis transverse they will see a sudden onset of symptoms, faster than any other type of myelitis transverse.

Myelitis Transverse Symptoms

  • Weakness in the legs, arms and overall body
  • Numbness in the arms, legs and similar
  • Violent back pain
  • Intensity of symptoms depend on the stage and extremity of the condition
  • Paralysis
  • Lower cervical lesions
  • Thoracic spinal cord lesions; could come off as spastic paraplegia
  • Any lesions within the lower region of the spine.
  • All of the lesions produce many upper and lower neuron signs and damage
  • Paralysis of the bladder and urinary retention are early signs
  • Spinal shock that could result in spasticity

Myelitis Transverse Diagnosis and Treatment

Using symptoms alone to diagnose myelitis transverse is quite impossible. The actual positive diagnosis of myelitis transverse can only be done through an MRI or a CT scan. An MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, is a large machine that works just like a CT scan to see within desired parts of the body. The only basic difference between a CT scan and an MRI is that the MRI gathers and displays pictures from the selected area, in this case the spine, in layers.

The CT scan is still very accurate and useful in diagnosing myelitis transverse but most specialists prefer to use an MRI for increased accuracy. Misdiagnosis with myelitis transverse is much more common than most think and it often requires surgery, therapy, physical rehab and other treatments for recovery.

Mycoplasma Genitalium Symptoms | Causes | Treatment

Mycoplasma Genitalium is a little known but very common sexually transmitted disease. It is a bacteria and it is contagious to both men and women. Mycoplasma Genitalium is passed sexually through both genital and oral contact and the only way to protect yourself from it is to practice safe sex habits and precautions including condoms, abstinence and limiting your sexual partners in general.

Symptoms for Mycoplasma Genitalium vary between genders. Men are commonly known to suffer from an inflamed urethra, which causes discharges, burning and painful urination. Also, arthritis and reactive arthritis are very common symptoms for men suffering from Mycoplasma Genitalium. On the other hand, many men end up being infected without any symptoms at all.

Women suffering from these bacteria will experience vaginal itching and painful sessions of intercourse. Discharge from the vagina is another annoying symptom for women as well as painful burning feeling after urinating. All of these symptoms may all be minor but they are dangerous to your health in one way or another and treatment should never be avoided.

Treatment Options for Mycoplasma Genitalium

Many medical professionals suspect that these bacteria, over time, can lead to PID, or pelvic inflammatory disease. Receiving appropriate treatment and completing it all the way through is vital if you want to get rid of your symptoms and the ability to pass Mycoplasma Genitalium on to others.

There are a variety of oral medications available from a medical professional that will cure your Mycoplasma Genitalium infection. Azithromycin is the drug most often prescribed to someone with a Mycoplasma Genitalium infection and the best part is that it is taken in a single dose. Unfortunately, azithromycin is the only drug that is able to fight these bacteria in a single dose.

Other treatments including doxycycline, erythromycin and ofloxacin are alternative oral medicines that must be taken repeatedly throughout the day for 7 days straight. Hopefully, you will only have to take the azithromycin and chances are, since it is the most effective out of all medicinal treatments for Mycoplasma Genitalium, you won’t have any need for any other treatment.

Molluscum Contagium Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Molluscum Contagium, Also referred to as MC is a virus that commonly spreads from skin to skin contact. There are different reasons why people contract the illness but some ways are by sharing items like clothes, blankets and anything else that has the virus on it from people scratching the infection and then touching items that others will use. This Molluscum Contagium virus is known to have 4 different types; they are arranged as followed:

  • MCV-1
  • MCV-2
  •  MCV-3
  • MCV-4.

The MCV-1 version of Molluscum Contagium is the more dominant out of the 4 types of Molluscum Contagium and MCV-2 is commonly known to spread as a sexually transmitted disease in adults. There are many ways to treat the symptoms of this skin virus but none are totally effective and treatments may vary depending on various situations. Some of the treatments are:

  1. Sergical Treatment

  • A cold liquid can be used to freeze the lesions caused from Molluscum Contagium; the most common liquid to use is liquid nitrogen. After the lesions are frozen they are scraped off by the individual performing the treatment.  This is not a pleasant procedure and can leave permanent scaring and white marks on the skin.

  1. Australian Lemon Myrtle

  • A  Study with Australian lemon myrtle showed a great amount of results when applied to types of Molluscum Contagium once a day for about 20 days. This ingredient is often diluted in olive oil to less than a percent of concentration to that it does not irritate the skin.

  1. Tea Tree Oil
  • The tea tree oil treatments have proven to stop the spread of this virus when applied in the diluted form. This oil is used for a lot of symptoms and treatments all over the world.

Even though these are some treatments and products for helping with Molluscum Contagium, they are not cures and will only help heal or stop the spread of the Molluscum Contagium virus. Always consult a doctor if you have symptoms that you think are a concern. A rash or blemish can be the start of something that needs medical treatment.

Molluscum Contagiosum Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Technically, molluscum contagiosum is a sexually transmitted disease and a skin virus infection but that is only when it occurs in adults. Young children are able to contract this virus simply by touching their skin to infected skin on another. Ages 1 to 10 years, both boys and girls, are highly susceptible to molluscum contagiosum infections.

The majority of children who are exposed to molluscum contagiosum get it through the sharing of clothing and other bodily touching items with someone who is infected, whether they know it or not. In the rear area of the body as well as the legs and arms are where the infection is most likely to inhabit.

It is so contagious that a child will end up passing it on to other parts of their own body just by scratching the infected areas and touching uninfected areas. Objects such as towels and clothes are responsible for carrying the virus on them for quite some time which allows it to be easily passed on.

The rash is a bumpy, itching rash that is very irritating and it is highly unlikely that the rash could ever go unnoticed. Although the molluscum contagiosum is only contagious when the bumpy rash is present, the rash could take up to 6 months to go dissipate.

Sadly, this doesn’t last for long because molluscum contagiosum has an incubation period in between rashes of 2 to 7 weeks. Therefore, instead of going through infection after infection, seeking treatment is the only option. Without treatment, more infections can occur, along with severe itching, scarring, bleeding and various mental factors including low self esteem, anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide and more.

The approach to treating molluscum contagiosum will depend upon the age, area and extremity of the situation. If the child is young it can be easily treated with methods similar to removing warts. Freezing, laser removal and other similar methods are used to remove the lesions. However, for a mild case there are many topical creams and related agents that a medical doctor can prescribe to effectively rid the child of the virus.

Mitral Valve Prolapsed Surgery | Repair Prolapse Mitral Valve

First of all, mitral valve prolapsed surgery is not always necessary but many heart defects and conditions can cause a need for surgery. A stenotic (narrow) mitral valve will benefit very much from mitral valve surgery as well as a regurgitant (leaking) mitral valve. In fact, those two conditions almost always require serious surgery.

The only other thing to be considered is replacement of the entire mitral valve but this type of surgery is only for certain, extreme cases. Valves that are leaking or are narrow will benefit much more from mitral valve prolapse surgery rather than valve replacement surgery because there are fewer complications afterwards.

Unnecessary valve replacement surgery can risk the ability to preserve the natural functions of the heart, which is of most concern when performing any type of heart surgery. Fortunately, mitral valve surgery has many more advantages than any other options:

  • Survival rates for late and early treatment are significantly better than with any other similar surgery.
  • Patient’s lifestyle will be improved and they will not have to be as careful (but still some!) as before when the condition was untreated.
  • Mitral valve repair allows for heart functions to be preserved better than other options including valve replacement and similar surgeries.
  • Blood thinners will NOT be needed anymore.
  • Prolapsed Mitral valve surgery puts the patient at the least amount of risk for infection and or stroke.

Surgical Information About Prolapsed Mitral Valve Surgery

Most mitral valve surgery cases are handled in a unique way: a robot. Instead of a surgeon going inside a person’s chest to do the repair by hand, advances in medical and mechanical technologies have allowed revolutionary machines to take over many difficult surgeries. These ‘robots’ are controlled by a surgeon and are proven to be safer and cleaner than any other method of operation.

Mitral valve surgery is still not something to be taken lightly as it is a surgery for the heart to work properly. In the end, an educated and experienced surgeon should be able to perform a low risk mitral valve surgery to fix your valve problem with ease.

Lymphogranuloma Venereum – Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

A sexually transmitted disease called Lymphogranuloma Venereum is gaining in number of infections more and more recently. It is an infection within your lymph nodes and it is caused by one of three main bacterial types of Chlamydia being present within their body. Lymphogranuloma Venereum is more common to infect men and the main cause is having too many sexual partners, as with most diseases too.

Symptoms of Lymphogranuloma Venereum

  • Painless, minor ulcer within the genital area that is relatively small.
  • Red, swollen areas of the groin
  • Swollen lymph nodes within the groin area, which are to the left and right of the genitals; one or both and can affected as well as the tiny lymph nodes in the rectum but it mainly concerns only those who participate in anal sex.
  • Draining groin lymph nodes
  • Bloody stools, bleeding and leaking of puss from the anus
  • Bowel movements accompanied by mild to severe pain
  • Swollen labia (outer tissue of the vagina)
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Diarrhea
  • Females infected with Lymphogranuloma Venereum can rarely develop fistulas (connections) between the anus and the vagina.

Diagnosing Lymphogranuloma Venereum

If an obvious ulcer is present a biopsy may be done if necessary but blood tests and other microscope methods are often used to give a definite answer. An ulcer or lump within the groin area does not always mean Lymphogranuloma Venereum is causing the problem which is why it is important to have the condition fully diagnosed by a medical professional and no one else.

Treatment for Lymphogranuloma Venereum

The treatment for Lymphogranuloma Venereum is similar to most other sexually transmitted disease treatments. Antibiotics taken orally, either in a single dose or over a few days, including tetracycline and erythromycin and doxycycline, are able to cure the infection and stop the spreading of the disease.

The main issue with Lymphogranuloma Venereum cases involves the complications that follow the initial infection that may occur even years after exposure. Lymphogranuloma Venereum complications involve a narrowing and scarred anus, long-term swelling of genitals, abnormal fistulas from vagina to anus and rarely, it can cause swelling of the brain.

Intussusception Symptoms | Causes | Treatments

Intussusception is basically a bowel obstruction. It typically happens in children between the ages of 1 year and 5 months. Male children are twice as likely to have Intussusception when compared to female children but it is not unheard of happening in older children and even adults.

Intussusception has many causes and most cases are actually diagnosed as idiopathic which means that the actual cause is unknown. Other cases show there are bacteria or a virus present that is causing the obstruction in the bowels to occur.

When present in children older than one year old and adults, Intussusception is more likely blamed on tiny tumors, otherwise known as polyps, instead of anything else. The traditional scenario of Intussusception in a child under one year old can be quite devastating to the body and to the longevity of the child suffering from it.

Serious complications are known to rise from untreated Intussusception because of the trauma the intestines have gone through. If left untreated, the infected intestine could die and that means it has turned gangrenous which is very serious. However, that is not the worst part because the intestine could rupture which would spill waste into the body causing infection, shock, sepsis and other serious possibly fatal conditions.

Symptoms of Intussusception

There are specific symptoms within infants that are suffering from Intussusception:

  • Constant crying that is instantly loud because of pain
  • While crying, the infant brings the knees up to the chest
  • Vomiting (typically unrelated to eating anything; it’s most likely bodily fluids
  • Those who miss the early signs will end up seeing something called a currant jelly stool, which is fecal matter with mucous and blood throughout it. This is a sign that the intestine may be on the verge or already has turned necrotic (dead, non-useable).
  • Fever

Treatment for Intussusception

The actual treatment is dependent upon the stage of Intussusception, severity and the amount of damaged caused. The easy treatment involves an enema but if perforation, or rupture, has occurred an enema would cause further damage. Surgery is the only other option at this point and with the right surgeon, all should be corrected quite simply.

Hypothyroidism – The Many Causes and Symptoms With Treatment

When someone suffers from a deficiency of the thyroid hormone it is called hypothyroidism. This disorder is often caused by a deformity, or abnormality, of the thyroid, hypothalamus and or pituitary gland. If someone has an underdeveloped or small thyroid gland then they will often suffer from hypothyroidism as well. Another less common cause of hypothyroidism is when iodine-131 has been used in a recent attempt to remove thyroid cancer and when infants suffer from it, it is called cretinism hypothyroidism.

Hypothyroidism Symptoms

Symptoms of hypothyroidism differ between the two main stages: early and late. The following symptoms are for adults with early stage hypothyroidism.

  • Pale complexion
  • Cramps and pain within the muscles and joints
  • Cold temperature sensitivity
  • Fatigue, depression, constipation, goiter
  • Withering muscles
  • Thin and weak fingernails that easy break
  • Unusual absence of sweat
  • Itchy, dry skin
  • Water retention; gaining weight from water weight
  • Unusually slow heart beat (less than 60 bpm) also known as bradycardia

The following are the symptoms for those suffering from late stages of hypothyroidism:

  • Variety of early stage symptoms here and there
  • Slowing speech capabilities accompanied by a hoarse speaking voice
  • Puffed skin in the facial areas
  • Outer part of eyebrow hair begins thinning
  • For women, unusual periods (menstruation)
  • Unusually low body temperature

There are many uncommon symptoms that occur with hypothyroidism from time to time. Here is a list of the rare, but occurring symptoms sometimes associated with hypothyroidism.

  • Slow reflexes
  • Discomfort and inability or difficult to swallow
  • Mood changes with irritability and anxiety
  • Lack of sex drive
  • Gynecomastia
  • Loss of hearing
  • Loss of senses like smelling and tasting
  • Psychosis
  • Elevated cholesterol serum
  • Abnormal renal functions
  • Skin with a yellow tone due to inability to convert beta-carotene to vitamin A
  • Tired all the time, must have sleep
  • Trouble breathing, weak chest, short breathes only
  • Low iron (anemic)
  • Loss of hair (alopecia)
  • Variant of hypoglycemia
  • Decrease heart rate
