Acetubulum Problems

Acetubulum is part of the pelvis, that connects with the top of the femur (thighbone) known as the ball and socket that forms the hip joint. The acetubulum has three parts that meet (ischium, ilium, and pubis) they resemble the shape of a horseshoe, this is the lunate surface, the most common problem to effect this particular part of the body would be an acetubular fracture.

Acetubulum the symptoms – the usual symptoms would be a lot of pain in your hip especially when there is any pressure or weight used. Some people can also experience some pain in the groin and/or the leg regions.

The causes of acetubulum– acetubular fractures are caused usually by some kind of rapid accident or trauma, something like a road accident or to that extent is a good cause. This kind of injury is noted to effect the younger generation more. Another common cause that is found to have an effect on the older generation is down to a weakness in the bones called osteoporosis. Research has shown that women will suffer from this more than men will.

Acetubulum the treatment – what treatment is given will depend on the extent of damage the cartilage in the acetubulum has suffered. If the damage has come from the results of a traumatic road accident, then there usually would be other injuries involved, an individual will have to have surgery done if this is the case. This is to remove the bone debris from the joint and stabilize the hipbone and thighbone alignment to ensure strength and stability. More often than not surgery is on younger people.

Acetubulum treatment works different with the older individuals. If the injury to the acetubulum is less traumatic then there will be less damage. Fractures are a lot less severe so they are usually able to heal by themselves if the correct care is taken i.e. Try and rest your hip as much as possible if you need to walk around at all then try and use the aid of a walking stick to support you. The less pressure you apply and the more rest you take, you will have a quicker more successful recovery.
