Acetylcholinesterase

Acetylcholinesterase is also known as ache and is an enzyme found in the body. It is mainly used to inhibit acetylcholine which is a neurotransmitter that helps skeletal muscle contraction. Essentially this aids in muscles working in the body. Acetylcholinesterase is often used as an anchor protein and serves as an example to help tie together a number of biological concepts. Nerves sending signals to muscles by way of neurotransmitters, such as acetylcholine, once the signal has been received the neurotransmitter must be broken down or the cell will not be able to distinguish a new signal and therefore another muscle contraction cannot occur.  Acetylcholinesterase is an important factor in the body.

The major forms of acetylcholinesterase are found in the brain and muscles. It is known to cause muscle spasms when used because it inhibits the transmission. It is used in many drugs prescribed to treat Alzheimer disease. Acetylcholinesterase is also used in the treatment of lewy body dementia. This is a disease that overlaps with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The disease acts like both diseases working at the same time and can degrade both physical and mental functions. Acetylcholinesterase is used mostly in the treatment of diseases that cause a loss of motor control.

Acetylcholinesterase has a very high chemical change rate activity. It can be blocked by nerve gases and other drugs. Since ache is so critical to both the development and function of the nervous system it has been studied at great length. Acetylcholinesterase overdoses can result in asphyxiation. Acetylcholinesterase is not an easy thing to study up on. The muscular system of the body is very complex and most of the research on this subject is full of medical jargon. The main idea and theme surrounding ache is that of the bonding that occurs at a molecular level between nerves and synapses. Ach is stored in vesicles, then released and combines with a receptor molecule in a muscle fiber. This bonding and change is necessary for repeated muscle contraction and repeats it continuously. While most people find this jargon wordy, the essence of muscle use can be discerned from a little bit of research.
