Common Afib Symptoms

Afib is the short term for the disease of the heart called Atrial fibrillation. It is a type of sickness where atrial, upper chamber of the heart, beats rapidly. This results to a condition scientifically known as arrhythmia which is the irregularity of heartbeat that often times reach 300 beats per minute. Although this illness is not deadly, knowing Afib symptoms still is very important.

Afib, when there are other heart beating disorders present, increases the risk of stroke and new heart diseases, which are the leading causes of death to many people. The reason is that when Afib attacks, there is a great possibility that there will be formation of blood clot. Blood clot in the heart is one of the major reasons for a person to have stroke and heart diseases.

This is the reason why knowing Afib symptoms is really vital. When people having this condition are diagnosed earlier, there is a great possibility that it will not lead to much more dangerous heart diseases. It is very important especially nowadays because there are many available medications that can treat the illness.

One of the treatments of Afib illness is the application of controlled electricity. This process destroys tissues that are the culprit of the irregularities of the heart beats. Another treatment of the illness is the implantation of a device to the heart that will monitor and control the rhythm of beating of the heart. This directly and instantly aids the illness, but doesn’t offer a lifetime solution.

Those two treatments are too expensive. Fortunately, there are some medications that could be taken that are lower in cost, so that people who don’t have enough money yet can continue their lives. One of those low end treatments involves the use of drugs. This doesn’t completely cure Afib illness. It only assures the person that it will not attack spontaneously, which cuts the risk of having other heart diseases.

The following are some of the most common Afib symptoms.

  • ·        Unexpected flutter of the heart
  • ·        Anxiety which sometimes lead to depression
  • ·        Shortness of breathing
  • ·        High blood pressure
  • ·        Heart and heart valves structural defects
  • ·        Lund disorder and other heart related disorders

If a person feels any of those symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor quickly. An ECG or electrocardiodiagram test could be done to confirm Afib. ECG is the device that determines rhythm of the heart which is measured through heart beat over time. This device can also determine if there are any other diseases that have appeared because of Afib illness.

There are some other tests that could be made aside of ECG test. One of this is the holster monitor which monitors the heart rate. Another test that could be made is heart event recorders. This focuses on viewing and observing the actions of a person’s heart. This two other tests doesn’t offer a 100% diagnostic, so many doctors use the latter test which is ECG.

People should treat the knowledge of Afib symptoms as a great opportunity for prolonging life.
