Echolalia – The Real Meaning

Several behavior characteristics are evident in the real world because there are many stages of human growth and so different features can be clearly attributed to any one of them easily. Echolalia is a Greek word that is used to describe the behavior evident in the conversations between two persons; it means that automatic repetition of sounds made by the other person. Derived from the word echo it thus signifies that it may also mean that the person trying to repeat the words may be at the same time echoing the words. In other cases also it may mean repeated movements of the same kind by the other person close to the subject.

This condition can be found in many people who have different abilities in the world; in most cases it can be found in autism and many other disabilities evident in the society. Various syndromes can be associated to this condition and so parents must be careful to notice this condition by getting the correct knowledge on them. Blind children and also those kids with varying degree of visual impairment also exhibit features of this condition. Many children will tend to grow up with this condition in them and so to avoid this problem care and assistance must be sought from the health experts.

In some instances echolalia can develop immediately after those cases of cerebral infarction otherwise commonly known as stroke. Cases of immediate condition of the disease will make the patient to have immediate repetition of the same words just like the way the condition is present in the body itself. Many people repeat words so that they may be able to understand or rather get enough time to process the language used by the speaker. Another case also may be the slower kind of the condition and with this one the patient will often repeat any thing said even though there is no response required in the long run; this may include items like the television commercials on the media sites.    
 

Many people especially toddlers succumb to echolalia because they see it as the only easy thing to do, others may have just felt bored and the only way to get out of stress is to repeat the words. Other kids may only be trying to understand things that they already known and in the event they find themselves repeating the words. Finally others could not be having the best listening abilities and so repetitions must occur.
