Ectodermal Dysplasia | Useful Info

Human body organs are supposed to have that organized and desired development of its tissues that will work well in correspondence with the general environment. The term ectodermal dysplasia is used to describe various conditions of abnormality evident in the body parts such as the nails, hair, teeth, skin and the sweat glands; the development of these areas is not that normal one in the surrounding.  In the environment there are very different types of this condition majorly due to those many gene defects that lead to the same condition.

Most common forms of this condition tend to have severe effects on men while other forms affect both men and women in equal proportions. Early symptoms can be people having no sweat at all or others having low levels of sweat compared to those on the normal human body system. Decreased sweat glands will often become the result for this disease in the human life. In most cases children with this condition or rather disease may not have that capability of controlling any form of fever even when they have mild illness because they cannot control temperature through their skin.

For adults with this ectodermal dysplasia they may not be in a position to tolerate warmer environments unless they are supported with other measures to bring the place under better conditions. Other symptoms in the human body may include issues such as abnormal nails, missing or abnormal teeth, decreased tears or even absent in some cases, very decreased skin color commonly referred to as pigment, being heat intolerant, that inability to sweat, large forehead, low number of teeth in the mouth than usual, low nasal bridge and poor hearing abilities. However other signs also may include thin skin, sparse hair in the head and poor vision.

Ectodermal dysplasia condition may be corrected by the use of such tests like biopsy of both the skin and the mucus membranes; also genetic testing may be done for some types of this kind of disorder. On the treatment part there is no kind of specific treatment for this disease and so there are just some of the behaviors that may be adopted to improve the ability for the organs to function well. Artificial tears could be used to replace the normal ones as this will go on to prevent drying of the eyes. Others may include wearing items such as wigs to improve appearance and finally living in those cooler climates of the world.
