How to get rid of Oily Skin
A number of people deal with oily skin on a daily basis. There are numerous ways on how to get rid of oily skin, but it is important to first know how oily skin occurs. Hair follicles feature areas called sebaceous glands that secrete oil called sebum to keep the skin hydrated and lubricated. For some people, these sebaceous glands become overactive and secrete too much oil, which often leads to skin conditions such as acne. Oily skin is difficult to deal with, as some products can cause the skin to secrete even more oil than they already do, while other products dry out the skin too much and lead to other skin problems.
There are a number of products and methods that can be used to get rid of oily skin. Many facial washes aim to attack oily skin, but some cause dryness or contain problem oils in the moisturizers that can aggravate oily skin. Products containing salicylic acid are sometimes good for cleansing oily skin, as salicylic acid focuses on eating away excess oils and dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Products with benzoyl peroxide are good at clearing oil from the skin as well, but should be tested and researched before using, as some benzoyl peroxide products cause the skin to dry out too much.
There are a variety of natural resources that can be used for how to get rid of oily skin. Such products include lemon, peppermint and vitamin A. Lemon juice is sometimes used to help with oily skin and makes the skin too acidic for acne causing bacteria that generally thrive on oily skin to live and reproduce properly. Peppermint contains a natural anti-inflammatory called menthol that has a cooling effect on the skin. Oily skin is often attributed to internal and/or external inflammation of the body which makes peppermint an effective product for getting rid of oily skin sometimes. Vitamin A is a nutrient that helps with oily skin for reasons that remain somewhat unknown, with the best research suggesting that the vitamin perhaps reduces certain hormones that can cause oily skin.
When regarding how to get rid of oily skin, it is important to remember to never use standard or perfume soaps, because soaps often dry out or deposit irritants on the skin. Oily skin is sometimes caused by hormone imbalances, meaning prescription medications can sometimes treat oily skin. If a person has a hormone imbalance, there will be other signs of it such as low energy. Oily skin can also be treated by a healthy diet and exercise, as exercise is great at purging the skin of oil and bacteria. For exercising to be most effective, people should consider using a face wash that works for them after exercise to cleanse toxins off of the surface of the skin immediately after working out. Oily skin is often a problem that can be managed with the right products, but different products will have different effects on people based on their skin type.
