As the name suggests, ingrown hair is a condition that generally relates to an abnormal growth of hair. Usually this condition is basically a reverse growing of hair; this simply means that instead of hair growing away from your body, it starts developing towards your body. This condition usually affects people who have relatively hard hair texture; this may include Africans or black Americans. This condition has no health implications whatsoever; this simply means that the condition cannot affect your health either positively or negatively. However this condition may prove to be very annoying especially when you consider it in relation to the compromise it brings to your beauty. This condition may make you look and feel less beautiful because of the effects it may have on your body.
Ingrown hair may be caused by several reasons but the main cause is usually a complication that is brought about through shaving. When you shave your hair, sometimes the process may be too rough and may create some problems around that area, there are also some cases that are reported of this condition that occur naturally. The natural occurrence of this condition is usually as a result of the body producing too much cells or hair tissue which in turn get deposited just at the hair follicles and this is what may cause the condition. There are also some techniques that people use but that may as well contribute to this condition, one such technique is waxing. If you are used to wearing very tight fitting clothes, then you may also be at a risk because these types of clothing may exert too much pressure on your hair which will then start growing inward.
Basically ingrown hair condition is easy to be experienced by just about anyone although most cases tend to occur during adolescence stage and this is especially so for people who tend to have thicker hair. This condition may make the area affected turn tender and very easy to be infected by some opportunistic infections. The condition may also cause the area affected to have some kind of swellings that may seem like pimples or acne. This condition may also cause some pain when a person infected shaves the hair. This condition is generally experienced on the beard area and sometimes in the private parts. It is very rare to find the condition affecting the eyebrows but there is still a possibility for the occurrence.
There is no known cure for this condition but basic rules of taking care of your body should be applied if you find yourself affected with this condition. Basically the key to avoiding this condition is by avoiding the very things that were mentioned earlier that cause the problem. These things include rough shaving of hair, wearing of very tight clothing and so on. This condition may become chronic if not dealt with seriously and at the earliest opportunity that it presents itself.
