Plantar fascia (plantar aponueurosis) is a strong layer of white tissue that connects the heel of the foot to the toes; it is divided into three portions, central, lateral, and medial. Problems with this can involve pain and may require medical treatment.
Plantar fascia- the central portion- this is the thickest portion that narrows towards the ankle direction and is thinner as it separates to each individual toe. This is what is responsible for the arc of the foot; this is what absorbs the shock of running.
