Many people are not familiar with the phrase or term Spondylolisthesis but it’s a term for a condition of the spine. What this condition consist of is a column of the vertebra to move forward or backward in relevant to the others of the spine.
Anytime that an individual’s back is unable to move properly and fully because of a spinal Colum that has slipped, they will be suffering from Spondylolisthesis. The spine is held up with the support of muscles, joints, disks and ligaments that help the spine move in many different ways, anytime there is a problem with the spine a patients will feel the effects of pain and difficulty in moving around.
There are 2 types of Spondylolisthesis one is Retrolisthesis and the other is Anterolisthesis. Retrolisthesis is when the vertebra body is offset backwards and Anterilisthesis it the upper area of the spine is affected moving forward in comparison to the adjoining bone structure.
You cannot really find any direct symptoms for Spondylolisthesis because the symptoms are so minute and general that people do not even know that they have the condition the majority of the time because its normal back pain or pain in the legs that can be taken as other issues like over working or standing to long.
There are many causes for Spondylolisthesis but here are a few to give you an idea of some reasons for this condition:
- Some people may be born with this condition called congenital Spondylolisthesis
- Anything that is done that makes a person active makes them a prime candidate for this issue
- As a person ages the chances of Spondylolisthesis grow
- There is also a condition where new bone tissue starts to grow, making the pars stretch, causing this symptom occur
- Getting hurt playing sports
- Working or stretching in a way you’re not used to
