Treatment and General Signs of Lichen Planus

The Lichen Planus is a disease that generally attacks the skin of the body and may be seen in many different parts of the body. The disease may appear on the genitals, in the mouth or on any other part of the body. It is not very clear as to what causes the disease but there are a lot of researches that are in progress to determine the exact cause of the disease. Some people however believe that the disease is usually caused by confusion in the way that the body behaves, the immune system is somehow confused and starts to attack the body without any reasonable cause. This disease can attack people of all ages but it is more prevalent among middle aged people. The disease is also most likely to affect the women in the mouth more than their male counterparts. These are just a few of the symptoms that a person who has the Lichen Planus may experience but there are also other complications that they may experience. There have been some beliefs that the disease is a cancer because of the way that it appears and how it spreads on the body but the truth is that the disease is not a cancer it is only a skin disease.

In treatment the doctors usually tend to focus on treating the symptoms because this is the key to healing. If the symptoms are healed the disease will eventually be eliminated from the body. Some of the common treatments for this disease may include; Antihistamines, immune suppressing medication, Lidocaine mouthwashes. Lichen Planus is not a very common disease but can easily bring a lot of pain and complications to anyone that it attacks. It is believed that if you take a proper diet and observe all the general rules of staying healthy like exercise, and body hygiene then there is a great reduction in the probability of contracting the disease.
